I've added a major new feature to the website. A discussion forum. I'm using the phpbb software avaiable at http://www.phpbb.com/. This is an open-source application package and has been incredibly easy to setup and use. Installing it was simply a matter of clicking a single link on the control panel for my webhost (Ace Net Inc) and configuring it has been very simple.

After taking it live the first time I realised that I had done something wrong and I couldn't log in anymore so I had to delete the whole thing and reinstall it, fortunetly no one had signed up yet so I didn't lose anything.

I've been away from the site for awhile. There were no skark worthy shows on for so long that I almost forgot about the web site. I started to screen cap the fourth season of Average Joe but after getting the first episode posted I didn't get the next couple of episodes done in a timely manner and quickly got so far behind I couldn't work up the enthusiam to catch up. I wasn't paying attention to new shows and after missing the first few episodes of Survivor Guatemala I just didn't feel like doing a partial season.

Which brings us to today, I want to get back into parodying some Reality-TV and I'm going to start with the new season of The Bachelor which starts next MondayÖ

I've completed converting and editing the screen caps for the sixth season of The Bachelor and the fourth season of For Love or Money, that just leaves Who Wants to Marry My Dad? and I'll have all my existing screen-caps posted.

I watched the first episode of Hell's Kitchen and I'm going to keep watching it but I'm not going to be making screen-caps for it. There just isn't enough material there to work with. Eighty percent of the show is Chef being an ass to the contestants and any jokes I make about that would get really old really fast. The rest of the show is split between contestants crying and the interpersonal stuff that would actually be worth screen-capping.

re: Hell's Kitchen. While interesting I would have much preferred to see contestants that have half-an-idea of what theyíre doing. They are supposed to be running a five-star kitchen so how about choosing people who work in three-star kitchens (or even just diners) instead of just random people off the street.

It was mentioned that the text in the menu bars was hard to read, and I agree, so I've changed it and made some more miscellaneous graphics changes. I've added a links page, not to get some links...

I'm taking the system live!!!

I signed up yesterday with ace-host.net for web hosting and spent most of the rest of the day sorting out the email system. I was having no luck configuring an email client. I eventually found out what I was doing wrong but not before I found a very nifty little email client that I'm going to try out for a while (at least).

It's a Mac OS-9 application called Finder Mail 0.5a, it's a nifty little program that handles multiple accounts really well and most importantly stores all the email as separate text files. This should allow me to automate many management functions using apple script and/or Quickeys.

I spent most of today recoding all the web pages so they work properly on the new server and reorganised my folder structure in the process (it's much better now). A big bunch of the time was spent figuring out how to get the cgi script to properly send emails for visitor comments.

I've got some server side includes working but there is a lot of stuff I have to figure out so that I don't have to edit a dozen pages anytime I make a change (such as add a new episode of screen-caps).
